The starting point of this project is a paradigmatic one: a fair usage of land, storage spaces with as much flexibility as possible and low investment costs per square meter. The project was commissioned by Gerola Prodinvest Ltd, one of the largest companies of import and distribution of dairy products in Romania.
Given the very large surface and assignment requirements, we conducted a comparative technical and economic analysis of various types of structures within the size of openings and areas needed. The studies indicated that glued laminated timber is the optimal solution. The dynamics of the market in the construction field at the time (2007) showed that wood was a significantly more advantageous choice than a metal or a concrete structure.
